Space Technologies
Advanced Space Solutions
We provide flight-proven cryogenic cooling, fluid management, and energy storage for launchers, satellites, and deep space missions.
Mastering the Extremes of Space
From the launchpad to the lunar surface, space missions require uncompromising reliability. Air Liquide leverages over 60 years of heritage to deliver mission-critical gas management, cryogenic cooling, and energy storage. Whether you are building the next generation of reusable launchers or designing ultra-sensitive orbital observation instruments, our technologies ensure peak performance in the harshest environments.
With over 60 years of expertise, Air Liquide is a main global partner of the space industry, participating in the largest international projects in the field of space transportation, Earth observation and science missions. On the ground, Air Liquide operates on the entire launchers value chain, from the design and recurring production of onboard cryogenic and gas management equipment; to the production and management of all propellants and fluids used for the rocket propulsion; to operational support and services provided to the launch pad. For satellites, Air Liquide supplies rare gases like xenon, krypton and argon for electric propulsion and we provide cryocoolers, which allow the mechanical and thermal stability of on-board instruments. Looking toward the future of space exploration, Air Liquide is also pioneering technologies such as regenerative fuel cell systems to enable a sustainable, long-term human presence in space.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does Air Liquide bridge the gap between legacy space and New Space?
We combine over 60 years of rigorous, flight-proven heritage with agile engineering. This means we apply our TRL 9 reliability to develop the mass-optimized, highly efficient, and scalable solutions demanded by the New Space economy.
We work at the exciting intersection of deep tech innovation and established space excellence.
What types of orbital missions do your cryocoolers support?
Our advanced Pulse Tube Cryocoolers and Laser Cooling Systems are purpose-built for highly demanding Earth observation and deep space science. They provide completely vibration-free active cooling for ultra-sensitive infrared detectors and optical instruments, ensuring up to 15 years of maintenance-free operation in orbit.
What kind of environment and projects do your engineering teams work on?
Our talents operate out of state-of-the-art ISO 5 cleanrooms, handling end-to-end design, high-precision TIG welding, and rigorous space-grade qualification. Our teams work on highly complex projects ranging from the cryogenic fluid management systems of super heavy launchers to cutting-edge energy storage systems for lunar habitats.
