Air Liquide’s engineering and construction activity strengthens its offer with the recent acquisition of the LNG technology, Liquefin™
With the increasing worldwide demand for cleaner energy alternatives, Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions, the engineering and construction activity of the Air Liquide Group, proposes high performance LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) technologies, equipment and services that reduce emissions to help further accelerate stakeholders’ responsible roles in the global transition of the energy sector. In addition to its existing technology portfolio of LNG liquefaction technologies Turbofin™ and Smartfin™ Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions has recently acquired the Liquefin™ technology to cover the entire spectrum of applications from small to large scale sizes. Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions presents this offer at the LNG 18 Conference in Perth, Australia (April 12-15, 2016).
Air Liquide’s cryogenics technologies have been at the heart of the company for more than 110 years, delivering longterm performance. Leveraging on this extensive expertise, Air Liquide has successfully delivered more than 20 LNG trains all over the world in the past 50 years.
LNG is used as a clean and cheap fuel, thus enabling the energy transition. As such, LNG represents an important opportunity for numerous markets worldwide.
Air Liquide’s extensive LNG solutions offer includes technologies, services and equipment for: standardized plants for the small size range; modularized plants and equipment for the mid to large size range; licence, process design package and proprietary equipment for large scale range; and equipment for LNG regasification terminals.
To complete its offer, Air Liquide acquired from the French public research company, IFPEN, a Dual Mixed Refrigerant technology called Liquefin™. This recent acquisition comprises patents and technical knowhow. Liquefin™ is a highly efficient process and provides the most competitive LNG product per ton. The technology is best optimized with the Brazed Aluminium Heat Exchanger, leading to further reductions and scalable output.
With its complete family of technologies, the engineering and construction activity of the Air Liquide Group proposes to its customers the most adapted solution for small to large scale applications. It thus consists of Air Liquide’s original technologies, Turbofin™ and Smartfin™, as well as the newly acquired Liquefin™:
- Turbofin™: Nitrogen cycle based on cryogenic turbo expanders best adapted to small scale size
- Smartfin™: Single Mixed Refrigerant cycle best adapted to small and mid size
- Liquefin™: Dual Mixed Refrigerant cycle best adapted to mid and large sizes
This family of solutions is based on the Group’s proprietary processes using Plate Fin Heat Exchanger technology. This proven and robust technology enables reaching higher efficiency and lower cost compared to alternate solutions such as Coil Wound Heat Exchanger.
Through targeted investments and constant innovation, Air Liquide’s engineering and construction activity is further accessing and connecting to engineering and procurement (E&P) actors, focusing on markets which are rich in natural gas through mainly the sale of its proprietary equipment.
Domenico D’Elia, Vice President and Chairman, Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions, stated, “Through targeted investments and constant innovation, Air Liquide’s engineering and construction activity is further accessing and connecting to engineering and procurement (E&P) actors, focusing on markets which are rich in natural gas through mainly the sale of its proprietary equipment. We are delighted to offer to our customers such state-of-the-art technology and longterm responsible solutions in the LNG sector.”
