Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions signs a new contract with a leading steel company to design and build Air Separation Units in China

Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions, the engineering and construction business of the Air Liquide Group, has signed a new contract with Shougang Jingtang Iron & Steel United Co. Ltd. (Jingtang), a subsidiary of Shougang Group, a leading steel company in China. Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions will design and build two new Air Separation Units (ASUs) with a capacity of 1,400 tons of oxygen per day each, and one Liquefaction Unit in support of Jingtang’s steel mill phase II project.

While global steel industry focuses on upgrading steelmaking production, eliminating the backward capacity, and improving efficiency, Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions offers know-how in process development and integration, in addition to full scope project support from conceptual design to implementation.

The new units will be built using Air Liquide’s latest innovative technologies, construction expertise and best in class standards to ensure safety, reliability, energy efficiency and secured performance of the plants.

Founded in 1919, Shougang Group ranks among the largest iron and steel enterprises in China and is one of the Fortune Global 500 companies. Located in the Bohai Rim Region of North China, Jingtang is China’s first port-vicinity steelmaker with an annual production capacity over 10 million tons. Products include automotive steel sheet, pipeline, pressure vessel steel, and shipbuilding steel. Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions and Shougang Group have a long term partnership. Since 2002 six Air Separations Units have been successfully delivered to Shougang Group, and are currently fully operational.
