Specialized purification for oxycombustion flue gas

In an oxycombustion process, fuel is burned utilizing pure oxygen instead of ambient air, resulting in a flue gas composed primarily of water vapor and highly concentrated carbon dioxide. Cryocap™ Oxy interfaces with this kiln configuration to enrich, clean, and liquefy the gas stream.

The process four distinct, highly reliable technological bricks:

  1. Flue Gas conditioning & filtration: Cools the incoming stream, performs initial SOx removal, and utilizes dust filtration to eliminate particulate matter, protecting downstream operations.
  2. Compression & drying: Compresses the gas and eliminates residual moisture to prepare the stream for sub-zero processing.
  3. Cryogenic separation: Utilizes low-temperature thermodynamic columns to safely isolate impurities (including high NOx levels) and condense the clean product.
  4. Membrane recovery: Advanced polymeric membranes recover any CO₂ lost during the cryogenic section and seamlessly recycle it back into the compression stage.

By closing the process loop with this final membrane stage, the setup effectively enriches the final flue gas stream above 60% CO₂ while achieving an exceptional overall carbon capture rate of up to 99%.

Cryocap™ Oxy is highly compatible with heavy manufacturing complexes, notably power generation stations and cement manufacturing kilns. Air Liquide provides a complete, circular integration loop by supplying the baseline oxygen required for the initial oxycombustion process while simultaneously deploying the Cryocap™ Oxy block to liquefy the resulting emissions.

Because our cryogenic processing blocks use physical separation instead of chemicals, they require no toxic or volatile fluids. They deliver highly purified gaseous or liquid carbon dioxide matching the exact storage, re-injection, or merchant-market purity grades requested by project operators.
